Care of Your Burford & Barn Lights
Maintaining your outdoor wall lights is a good idea, they will last longer and look better, keeping the outside of your home well lit and looking smart.
All our Burford Lights are made of Aluminium with a powder coated paint finish, this process gives a durable paint surface. Cleaning them is usually a simple task with a damp cloth. For stubourn marks a mild detergent can be used on the cloth, so that you do not soak the light.
Always ensure the light is off before you undertake cleaning and hold the glass gently whilst wiping it.
If the glass is dirty, remove it, by undoing the three retaining screws while holding onto the glass!
Both the Barn or Stable Wall Light and the Burford have three fixing screws. The Harbour Light also has screw glass retainers (instead of a removable shade)
The Glass has a lip, this might vary depending on time of manufacture.
The lip sits inside the light fitting, the glass sits on the retaining screws, rather than the screws being tighton the glass.
However, they should not be screwed in tight to the glass, the lip of the glass sits on the screws and the glass needs room to move. This allows for expansion of the glass, particularly if the light is subject to being in the sun.
Always hold the glass while unscrewing retaining screws.
Cleaning the fitting is usually a simple task with a damp cloth.

Overtightening of the screws can lead to cracking the glass.
You should be still be able to move the glass when finished.
